At one time or another everyone has to do something they really don't want to do. I myself have had to do these things. I am speaking about
wal*mart.
One wouldn't think such a seemingly happy scene would be so inherently evil. It is.
It started out as the dream job: good hours, paid breaks, little or no work, the Camelot of dead end low paying jobs. As the hours stretched into days, into weeks, into months: things started to change. Working late Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights became commonplace. This was not the worst of it. The most demeaning shittiest part of it all was the STORE MANAGER who while at first was a very fair boss quickly turned into big brother. Video surveillance was the most obvious way he went about it. For example: one would be minding his own business chatting in electronics, when.... the phone would ring and a voice says- "get to work". When you join the walmart family you lose your previous identity. You become your legal first name (no nick-names) and where you are from. For example: there is Jill-from-housewares, Jack-from-lawn and garden, and Sam-from-pets. I literally began to sign things Dan-from-toy's. This is a weird column, but I feel people should know the incredible evil known as walmart. Dan Webber? |
