The Mad Butchers

The debut release from the Kalamazoo band The Mad Butchers is out now. It is a new 7" on Beat Hotel Records entitled "Rock Unsteady", and it basically kicks my ass!

Mad Butchers are a ska band with a party band feel to them. They play fun, lively music that you can easily skank to or just sit back and enjoy. The 7" is really neat looking, with a Milton Bradly -like MB logo in the upper corner. The 7" cover itself is has a cool look to it. It also sports a disco scene in black and white with a few people dancing it up. The words "New and Improved" done the upper right hand corner - and I’d have to agree (though that doesn’t make too much sense - this being their first record and all.).

I’ve gone to a couple Mad Butchers shows, and believe you me - they kick the shit live. With a nice horn section kicking the backup, and a consistent pace, you can get exhausted quickly. I would definitely recommend anybody to go see them live. You get some special treats you can’t get on the album. They usually tell really bad jokes, and sometimes break out into random covers of Vanilla Ice songs - Ska Style! They play a lot as far as I know. You can usually see them around the Kalamazoo, lower Michigan area.

The 7" includes the song "Give it up" on the A side. And is backed up with the incredible "What’s the point?" and "Ramone" on the flip side. All 3 songs are a great spin. This 7" can be picked up at your local independent retailer or directly from Beat Hotel Records at:
3185 W. 12 Mile Rd.
Berkley, MI 48072
